Fuzzy rule-based acceptance criterion in metaheuristic algorithms

Metaheuristic algorithms are solution approaches to solve optimization problems by repeating some algorithmic steps while searching the solution space. The strategy of the metaheuristic includes two basic tactics; exploration for escaping the local optimum and exploitation for the global optimum. The number of solutions while exploring the solution space can be used to classify metaheuristics. If the metaheuristic uses only one solution to generate a new solution, we call it the single-solution-based metaheuristic. Simulated annealing, iterated local search, adaptive large neighborhood search, iterated greedy, local search, and tabu . . . search are examples of single-solution-based metaheuristics. Most of these metaheuris- tics use an acceptance criterion to whether accept the newly generated solution instead of the incumbent solution to escape from the local optimal. The most used acceptance criterion in the literature is the Metropolis criterion or simulated annealing-like acceptance criterion that decides whether accept the new solution by calculating its acceptance probability. In this study, we propose a fuzzy rule-based acceptance criterion that fuzzies the inputs of the metaheuristic within a fuzzy inference system to create the decision output about the acceptance. The proposed new acceptance criterion is compared with the well-known probabilistic approach in the experimental study with traveling salesman problem, multidi- mensional knapsack problem, single machine weighted earliness/tardiness problem, linear regression problem, and two continuous optimization problems. The statistical analyses reveal that the number of acceptance solutions while using the proposed acceptance criterion is less than the probabilistic one has but the metaheuristic performance increases with the proposed criterion. Genetic algorithm application for permutation flow shop scheduling problems

In this paper, permutation flow shop scheduling problems (PFSS) are investigated with a genetic algorithm. PFSS problem is a special type of flow shop scheduling problem. In a PFSS problem, there are n jobs to be processed on m machines in series. Each job has to follow the same machine order and each machine must process jobs in the same job order. The most common performance criterion in the literature is the makespan for permutation scheduling problems. In this paper, a genetic algorithm is applied to minimize the makespan. Taillard’s instances including 20, 50, and 100 jobs with 5, 10, and 20 machines are used to define the effi . . .ciency of the proposed GA by considering lower bounds or optimal makespan values of instances. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis is made for the parameters of the proposed GA and the sensitivity analysis shows that crossover probability does not affect solution quality and elapsed time. Farklı yöntemlerle polimerize edilen rezin simanların renk stabilitesinin araştırılması

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı ışıkla ve dual polimerize olan rezin simanların renk stabilitesinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: 4 (2'si light polimerize, 2'si dual polimerize) farklı rezin simandan teflon kalıp yardımı ile toplam 40 adet disk şeklinde örnekler hazırlanmıştır. Örneklerin başlangıç renk L, a, b değerleri beyaz zemin üzerinde spektrofotometre yardımıyla ölçülmüştür. 6 aylık kahve tüketimini simule edilerek tekrar bu değerler ölçülmüştür. Bu verilerden renk stabilitesi (∆E) değeri hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilere bağımsız örnekler t testi ve tek yönlü ANOVA testi uygulanmış ve gruplar arası farkların tespiti . . . için post hoc Tukey HSD testi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Faklı yöntemle polimerize edilen rezin simanların ∆E değeri istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Işıkla sertleşen gruplarda ∆E değeri 7,26± 2,69, dual sertleşen gruplarda ∆E değeri 10,79± 3,20 olarak bulunmuştur. A comparative study of coded and uncoded optical frequency domain channel equalizer in visible light communications

This article recommends using channel encoders to develop the achievement of optical single carrier frequency domain equalizers (OSC-FDE) in multi-path optical channel environment, which is an alternative to OFDM waveform for visible light communication (VLC) systems. Reed Solomon (RS) and convolutional coding (CC) are used as channel encoders. Computer simulations are made to compare the encoded OSCFDE method with the non-encoded OSC-FDE and VLC-OFDM methods over the bit error rate (BER) achievement criteria. From the acquired outcomes, it is perceived that 18 dB SNR development is achieved, especially with the convolutional coding.

Yüksek tepe gücü/ortalama güç oranı (PAPR), çok taşıyıcılı (MC) haberleşme sistemlerinin en büyük dezavantajlarından biridir. Dikgen Frekans Bölmeli Çoğullama (OFDM) sistemi de bu dezavantaja sahiptir. Bu nedenle OFDM’e alternatif dalga formu araştırma geliştirme çalışmaları tüm dünya da devam etmektedir. Bu bildiride, Süzgeçlenmiş OFDM (F-OFDM) dalga formunun OFDM ile karşılaştırmalı olarak PAPR ve bit hata oranı (BER) başarımları analiz edilmektedir. Infertil hastaların covıd-19 aşısına uyumu ve IVF tedavi sonuçları

Bu çalışmanın amacı, infertil hastaların Koronavirüs hastalığı-2019 (COVID-19) aşısına bakış açılarını değerlendirmek; uygulanan COVID-19 aşısının kadınların over rezerv testleri üzerine ve in vitro fertilizasyon (IVF) tedavi sonuçlarına etkisini ölçmektir. Prospektif olarak planlanan bu çalışma Hüma Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Hastanesi, Tüp Bebek Ünitesi’nde yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya Nisan 2022-Haziran 2022 tarihleri arasında infertilite nedeniyle başvuran 187 hasta dahil edilmiştir. Hastalar COVID-19 aşısı yaptırıp yaptırmama durumuna göre 2 gruba ayrıldı. Aşı yaptırmayı kabul eden 1. gruptaki 94 hastanın aşı öncesi Folikül Stimülan . . . Hormon (FSH), Estradiol (E2), Anti Müllerian Hormon (AMH) değerlerine ve toplam antral follikül sayılarına (AFS) bakıldı. Aşı yaptırmayı kabul etmeyen 93 hastanın da aynı parametrelerine bakıldı. Aşı yaptıran ve yaptırmayan bu iki grup arasındaki over rezerv testleri ile IVF tedavi sonuçları karşılaştırıldı. Aşı yaptıran hastaların aşı öncesi ve sonrası over rezerv testleri değerlendirildiğinde FSH, AMH, E2 ve AFS bakımından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamadı. IVF tedavi sürecinde aşı yaptıran grup ile yaptırmayan grup arasında toplanan oosit sayısı, M2 oosit sayısı, fertilizasyon, implantasyon ve klinik gebelik oranlarında anlamlı istatistiksel bir farklılık izlenmedi (p>0.05). COVID-19 aşısı kişileri enfeksiyondan korurken over rezervi üzerinde herhangi bir azalma yapmadığı çalışmamızda gösterilmiştir. İnfertil hastalarda IVF tedavisi öncesi aşı yaptırmanın, tedavi sürecini ve sonuçlarını olumsuz etkilemediği yine bu çalışmada kanıtlanmıştır. The aim of this study is to evaluate the perspectives of infertile patients on the Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccine and to measure the effect of the COVID-19 vaccine administered on women's ovarian reserve tests and in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment outcomes. This prospectively planned study was conducted in Hüma Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital, IVF Unit. The study included 187 patients who applied due to infertility between April 2022 and June 2022. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to whether they had the COVID-19 vaccine or not. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Estradiol (E2), Anti Müllerian Hormone (AMH) values, and total antral follicle counts (AFS) of 94 patients in the 1st group who accepted to be vaccinated were measured. The same parameters of 93 patients who refused to be vaccinated were also examined. The results of ovarian reserve tests and IVF treatment were compared between these two groups with and without vaccination. When the ovarian reserve tests of the vaccinated patients were evaluated before and after vaccination, no statistically significant difference was found in terms of FSH, AMH, E2, and AFS. No statistically significant difference was observed in the number of oocytes collected, the number of M2 oocytes, fertilization, implantation, and clinical pregnancy rates between the group that received the vaccine and the group that did not receive the vaccine during the IVF treatment process (p>0.05). It has been shown in our study that the COVID-19 vaccine does not reduce ovarian reserve while protecting people from infection. Emotional labor among Turkish nurses: A cross-sectional study

Nurses are the closest healthcare providers to patients and emotional labor is themost invisible part of nursing work. However, the management of emotions topromote organizational goals and to ensure patient satisfaction may have bothpositive and negative impacts on nurses' working life. The purpose of this cross‐sectional, descriptive study was to examine the emotional labor behaviors of nursesand their opinions on emotional labor. Two hundred nineteen nurses working atpublic hospitals in Ankara between September and December 2018 participated tothis study. Data were collected using the sociodemographic characteristics form and“The . . . Scale of Emotional Labor Behavior for Nurses.”Nurses had higher scores on thedeep and sincere emotional acting subdimensions of the emotional labor scale thanthe surface acting subdimension. Findings suggest that nurses act deeply andintimately, instead of surface acting. Most of the nurses expressed that nurses wereemotionally affected when caring for patients; however, nurses had to control theirfeelings toward patients and behave professionally to meet the expectations of theirmanagers, which may lead to an implicit emotional dissonance. Traditional health practices refer to medical practices related to the beliefs, values and traditions of societies. Three quarters of the world's population rely on complementary alternative therapies and use complementary alternative therapies in many diseases, especially chronic diseases, for which modern medicine is not sufficient. According to the legal regulations in our country, the places where Traditional and Complementary Medicine Applications can be made and the authorized persons can be performed by a physician authorized by the Turkish Republic Ministry of Health. In this case, it is aimed to emphasize the harm caused by performing traditional treatment by unauthorized persons. The effects of different antioxidant agents on the microtensile bond strength of composite resin to bleached enamel

The objective of this in vitro study is to examine the effect of antioxidants on the bonding strength of composite resin to bleached enamel. One hundred twenty non decay teeth were used in this study. Specimens were cut from the enamel cement junction. Then the specimens were randomly assigned into two groups-office bleaching and home bleaching. Bleaching antioxidants were applied to the first 12 subgroups. The specimens in the remaining 12 groups were kept in artificial saliva for 14 days and antioxidants were applied. Composite resin restoration was applied to all specimens.
