Indoor power line communication (PLC) systems are estimated to be used effectively for smart grid technology. In addition, cross quadrature amplitude modulation (XQAM) signaling is considered to be a good solution to meet the high data rate requirement. From this point of view, in this study, error probability analysis of PLC systems with XQAM signaling is presented. In the presented error analysis, two different symbol error expressions were obtained by following two different ways. The results of various scenarios with different parameters of the considered system are demonstrated. The accuracy of the analytical results obtained by using the proposed error expressions is shown with the exact numerical (simulation) results.
