NEW AND ACCURATE SYNTHESIS FORMULAS FOR ASYMMETRIC COPLANAR WAVEGUIDES

In this letter, new and accurate synthesis formulas to compute the physical dimensions of asymmetric coplanar waveguide (ACPW) are presented. The synthesis formulas are obtained with the use of differential evolution algorithm (DEA), genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and simulated annealing (SA) algorithm. The synthesis formulas are useful to microwave engineers for accurately calculating the physical dimensions of ACPWs. The results of the synthesis formulas are compared with the quasi-static analysis, a full-wave electromagnetic simulator IE3D, and experimental results obtained in this work. The average percentage errors of the synthesis formulas found by using DEA, GA, PSO, and SA algorithm are calculated to be 0.56, 0.62, 0.87, and 0.88%, respectively, for 2079 ACPW samples having different electrical parameters and physical dimensions, as compared with the results of respective quasi-static analysis.
