A quantized water cycle optimization algorithm for antenna array synthesis by using digital phase shifters

Kerim GÜNEY

In this article, a quantized water cycle algorithm (QWCA) is used for the antenna array pattern synthesis with low side-lobe levels (SLLs) and nulls at desired directions by using four-bit digital phase shifters. In addition to the standard features as a metaheuristic algorithm, QWCA has an internal quantization mechanism and a precalculated array factor method. The latter provides an accelerated procedure to QWCA under favour of the digitized values that can be stored in a three-dimensional array. This acceleration is based on the reality that the accessing data in the memory need less time t ...Daha fazlası

Optimal synthesis of linear antenna arrays using a harmony search algorithm

Kerim GÜNEY

A method based on harmony search algorithm (HSA) for the pattern synthesis of linear antenna arrays with the prescribed nulls is presented. Nulling of the pattern is achieved by controlling the amplitude-only, the phase-only, and the position-only. The HSA is conceptualized using the musical process of searching for a perfect state of harmony. To show the effectiveness of the proposed HSA, several examples of linear antenna array patterns with the imposed single, multiple and broad nulls are given. It is found that the nulling method based on HSA is capable of steering the array nulls precisel ...Daha fazlası

Null synthesis of time-modulated circular antenna arrays using an ımproved differential evolution algorithm

Kerim GÜNEY

An efficient variant of differential evolution (DE) algorithm, namely subpopulated differential evolution (subDE), is proposed for solving null synthesis problems of time-modulated circular antenna arrays by controlling time intervals and phases. The capabilities of subDE algorithm are examined by comparing its convergence curves and number of successful optimizations to those of the classical DE. Wilcoxon rank-sum test is also applied to ensure that the results are significant in terms of statistics. Furthermore, the antenna array parameters achieved by using subDE are compared to those of th ...Daha fazlası

Bacterial Foraging Algorithm for Null Synthesizing of Linear Antenna s by Controlling Only the Element Positions

Kerim GÜNEY

A method based on the bacterial foraging algorithm (BFA) for the pattern synthesis of linear antenna arrays with the prescribed nulls is presented. Nulling of the pattern is achieved by controlling only the element positions. The BFA is a new evolutionary computing technique, based on the foraging behavior of Escherichia (E) coli bacteria in a human intestine. Simulation results for Chebyshev patterns with the imposed single, multiple and broad nulls are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. For practical consideration, due to small variations of the element positions, the se ...Daha fazlası

Pattern Nulling of Linear Antenna s Using Backtracking Search Optimization Algorithm

Kerim GÜNEY

An evolutionary method based on backtracking search optimization algorithm (BSA) is proposed for linear antenna array pattern synthesis with prescribed nulls at interference directions. Pattern nulling is obtained by controlling only the amplitude, position, and phase of the antenna array elements. BSA is an innovative metaheuristic technique based on an iterative process. Various numerical examples of linear array patterns with the prescribed single, multiple, and wide nulls are given to illustrate the performance and flexibility of BSA. The results obtained by BSA are compared with the resul ...Daha fazlası

Linear Antenna Synthesis Using Mean Variance Mapping Method

Kerim GÜNEY

A mean variance mapping optimization algorithm for three types of antenna array synthesis examples is presented. Mean variance mapping optimization is based on the strategic transformation used for mutating the offspring built on mean variance of a certain dynamic population. The first set of examples is based on side-lobe suppression and null control by controlling element positions with mean variance mapping optimization under constraints to beam width. In the second group of examples, mean variance mapping optimization becomes an optimization tool to calculate the amplitude and phase values ...Daha fazlası

Çekirge optimizasyon algoritmasını kullanarak eliptik anten dizisinin optimum tasarımı

Kerim GÜNEY

The design of the elliptical antenna arrays is relatively new research area in the antenna array community. Backtracking search optimisation algorithm (BSA) is employed for the synthesis of elliptical antenna arrays having different number of array elements. For this aim, BSA is used to calculate the optimum angular position and amplitude values of the array elements. BSA is a population-based iterative evolutionary algorithm. The remarkable properties of BSA are that it has a good optimisation performance, simple implementation structure, and few control parameters. The results of BSA are com ...Daha fazlası

Anfis Models For Synthesis Of Open Supported Coplanar Waveguides

Kerim GÜNEY

Simple and accurate models based on adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to compute the physical dimensions of open supported coplanar waveguides are presented. The ANFIS is a class of adaptive networks which are functionally equivalent to fuzzy inference systems. Four optimization algorithms, hybrid learning, simulated annealing, least-squares, and genetic, are used to determine optimally the design parameters of the ANFIS. When the performances of ANFIS models are compared with each other, the best results are obtained from the ANFIS models trained by the hybrid learning alg ...Daha fazlası

Antenna synthesis and failure correction using differential search algorithm

Kerim GÜNEY

Differential search (DS) optimization algorithm is proposed for the synthesis of three different types of linear antenna array design examples. The first group of examples is that DS algorithm is used to locate wide nulls on the linear antenna array patterns by controlling amplitude-only. In these examples, sidelobe levels disposed to rise are also suppressed by using DS algorithm in the same optimization process. In the second group of examples, individual nulls are placed with the help of DS algorithm by controlling the amplitude-only, phase-only, and position-only. The last example is a lin ...Daha fazlası

Kerim GÜNEY

Obstructive sleep apnea is a sleep disorder which may lead to various results. While some studies used real-time systems, there are also numerous studies which focus on diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea via signals obtained by polysomnography from apnea patients who spend the night in sleep laboratory. The mean, frequency and power of signals obtained from patients are frequently used. Obstructive Sleep Apnea of 74 patients were scored in this study. A visual-scoring based algorithm and a morphological filter via Artificial Neural Networks were used in order to diagnose Obstructive Sleep Apne ...Daha fazlası

Kerim GÜNEY | Erhan KURT

Antenna array synthesis is one of the most popular topics in the electromagnetic field. Since achieving a desired antenna radiation pattern is a mathematical problem, in the literature, there are various optimization algorithms applied to the synthesis process of different kinds of antenna arrays. In this study, Multiverse Optimizer (MVO) and modified MVO (MMVO) are used to perform circular antenna array (CAA) synthesis. During the exploration, exploitation, and local search phases of calculation, MVO uses three concepts in cosmology; white hole, black hole, and wormhole. Convergence capabilit ...Daha fazlası
